Audrey Yoder

Soprano Audrey Yoder, hailed for her “attractive timbre and laudable musicianship” (Opera Today), is a “dramatically engaging singing actress who shows great vocal flexibility” (Broadway World).

Ms. Yoder recently appeared in two US Staged Premieres as Climene and Euterpe in Pacific Opera Project (POP)’s inventive, double-bill, drive-in production of Gluck’s La Corona and Il Parnaso Confuso, in addition to POP’s double-bill of Gianni Schicci and L’enfant et les sortileges. Her recent season also included a virtual Suor Angelica, complete with orchestra, produced by Opera San Luis Obispo, Valley Opera and Performing Arts (VOPA) and Mission Opera that was met with glowing reviews, including recommendations from renowned opera singers Nicole Cabell, Othalie Graham and Milena Kitic.

An advocate for new music, Ms. Yoder presented the virtual World Premiere of Lisa Neher’s one-woman opera Par for the Course as Babe Zaharias with the One Voice Project where Thea Derks (Contemporary Classical) praised, “self-assured, Yoder moves between flawlessly intonated, large intervals into a listless, descending glissando.” The One Voice Project Micro Opera Festival met with critical acclaim and was featured in Contemporary Classical, Theaterkrant, Classical Currents, and Opera Wire.

A frequent performer with Opera Santa Barbara (OSB), Ms. Yoder was pleased to join in their virtual concert, Opera Santa Barbara Celebrates Black History Month, featuring a diverse group of singers performing works by Black composers. She had the honor of curating and hosting OSB’s virtual program, Opera Santa Barbara Celebrates Women’s History Month, which featured works by women composers, past and present, and included video testimonials from women conductors, composers, scholars and performers. Ms. Yoder has appeared with OSB as Bard and Siren in Odyssey, and as Ruth Putnam in their production of The Crucible. She looks forward to returning to the stage with OSB this spring as Kaylee the Coordinator in Speed Dating Tonight.

Highlighted operatic roles include Juliette (Romeo et Juliette), Gretel (Hansel und Gretel), Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro), Dinah (Trouble in Tahiti), Euridice (Orfeo ed Euridice), Miss Jessel (The Turn of the Screw) and Antonia (Les contes d’Hoffmann).

Equally at home on the concert stage, Ms. Yoder’s solo concert work includes Poulenc’s Gloria, Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben, Gounod’s Les Sept paroles de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, Bach’s Magnificat, Rutter’s Gloria, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Faure’s Requiem and Schubert’s Mass No. 2 in G Major. Ms. Yoder looks forward to being featured in Mozart’s Requiem in D minor with the St. Cecilia Chorale and the Glendale Youth Orchestra.

Ms. Yoder also uses her talents as a recording artist. She was proud to join with the Biden/Harris Inaugural Committee and Mission Opera Company for An Evening of Spirituals, Hymns and Hope honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the National Day of Service. She contributed to the COVID-19 relief video of Diane Warren’s Oscar-nominated song "I’m Standing with You," arranged by Sharon Farber. The global effort has raised more than $7 million for the United Nations Foundation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization (WHO). This spring she looks forward to recording a series of unpublished Villancicos and a collection of never-before-recorded Bach chorales in Castilian Spanish with Acis Productions.
