Mariah Rae
Soprano
Mariah Rae is a Filipina American vocalist from Portland, Oregon now based in Southern California. Mariah is often praised for her sharp musicianship and theatrical instincts, and finds herself at the edge of operatic and choral spaces today. Mariah is thrilled to be a part of her fourth production with Pacific Opera Project, last appearing as Princess Papagena Peach in POP's production of The Magic Flute AKA #Superflute.
Mariah has recently premiered works with N.E.O. Voice Festival through The Resonance Collective, performed the role of Polyxena in O-Lan Jones' Cynossema through Overtone Industries, and has appeared with Lyric Opera of Orange County and the Long Beach Camerata Singers. Mariah frequently sings and tours with Tonality vocal ensemble, where she was a featured soloist with the Kronos Quartet for Michael Abels' At War With Ourselves, sang with Björk as part of her Cornucopia West Coast tour, Lina Lapelyte's Sun & Sea opera, and on Tonality's 2024 GRAMMY®-winning album So She Howls by Carla Patullo. Notable operatic roles include Soeur Constance in Dialogues des Carmélites, Suor Osmina in Suor Angelica, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Adina in L'elisir d'amore, Laetitia in The Old Maid and the Thief, and Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi.
Mariah placed 2nd in the NATS-LA Collegiate Auditions Graduate Division in 2021, participated in SongFest as a Young Artist, attended the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) Opera Studio in Graz, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival as a featured soloist in Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, the University of Miami Frost School of Music's summer program in Salzburg, and toured with the Loyola Marymount University choruses in France. During her time at LMU she was a member of vocal ensembles such as The Consort Singers and The Sinatra Opera Workshop, and was a member of The Opera Institute during her time at BCCM.
Mariah graduated wiÂth a Master of Music in Opera Performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music (BCCM) at California State University Long Beach and received a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance and Journalism from Loyola Marymount University (LMU). As a multi-hyphenate professional, Mariah strives to use her unique skill sets and lived experience to be an example for her communities and uplift others on their journeys.
